Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a mist printer without clogging and with an improved printing quality by closely contacting an ink film which has tiny holes filled with ink with a heat sensitive head through a cloth. CONSTITUTION:A serial printer is provided with an ink film 1 which has many tiny holes 1a filled with ink, and the film 1 is closely wound on a heat sensitive head 4 over a cloth 3 which passes by an ink supply device 2. If the heat sensitive head 4 is applied with an electricity, the ink which fills the cloth 3 and the holes 1a is suddenly heated to generate bubbles and the ink flies and adheres to a recording medium 6 on a platen 5, resulting in printing. The ink in the holes 1a of the ink film 1 is constantly supplemented by a capillary action of the cloth 3. By moving the cloth 3 and the ink film 1 relatively to the heat sensitive head 4 the ink may be more efficiently supplemented. Thus, a possible clogging may be precluded. In addition, because of a misty condition of droplets, an excessive supply of ink droplets is prevented to improve printing quality.

The conventional inkjet printers mentioned above are amazing! 9
Since the ink droplets are large, the recording medium must be specially processed to improve print quality. To prevent ink from drying out, unique mechanisms such as caps and cleaners were required on the nozzles. In addition, in mist printers, the surrounding area is wetted by mist, which upsets the balance of the electrostatic field, often resulting in unclear prints, which also poses a problem in reliability.

In the embodiment, when electricity is applied to the thermal head 4, the heating element is heated, and the ink filled in the cloth 3 and the ink filled in the many fine holes 1a of the film l are rapidly heated, and bubbles are generated at the interface. Ink comes out and the platen 5
It adheres to the upper recording medium 6 and forms a print. This phenomenon in which air bubbles are generated and ink is ejected is a well-known fact known as bubble jet. Ink is constantly replenished into the holes lcL of the ink film 1 through the capillary action of the cloth 3. A cloth 3 and an ink film 1 are attached to the thermal head 4.
Ink can be replenished more efficiently by moving the ink relative to the ink. Holes of several microns to several hundred microns can be easily formed in the in-ta film 1 by electrohoming or etching. Fabric 3 should be made of thread as thin as possible. The conventional thermal head can be used as is. The ink can be either water-based or oil-based and has a boiling point of about 0.00
℃~several 100℃ is preferable.

As described above, the present invention eliminates the fear of clogging because it is easy to replenish ink, the ink film is constantly moved, and a large number of holes correspond to the heating elements. In addition, since the ink droplets are in a mist form, excessive ink droplets can be prevented and printing quality can be improved.
