Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically make optimum luminance according to a brightness of a monitoring environment by detecting a change of the brightness of a place in which a CRT monitor is set and setting a target value of an optimum luminance corresponding thereto. CONSTITUTION:A signal representing a brightness of an environment in which a CRT display 6 detected by an optical sensor 1 is placed is made nemerical and thereafter transmitted to a control section 4 through a signal input section 3 disposed in a monitoring device main body. The control section 4 obtains an optimum luminance of the CRT display 6 by an operation from said signal value and the numerically set value is transmitted to a luminance changing section 5. The luminance changing section 5 controls a luminance circuit of the CRT display 6 so as to obtain the corresponding luminance based on the set value fed from the control section 4 and changes the luminance on a fluorescent surface to make optimum the luminance.

In a conventional display CRT for a monitoring device, the brightness was adjusted by a person operating a brightness adjustment knob provided on the main body of the monitoring device. However, the above-mentioned conventional technology has the following drawbacks because the brightness of the CRT display is manually adjusted by a person. Even if the brightness around the CRT display changes, unless a person adjusts the brightness, the brightness of the CRT display will not be optimized for the environment. In this case, an observer looking at a CRT display with inappropriate brightness would
Experiencing more eye fatigue than necessary and having negative effects on eye health. In addition, among the inappropriate brightness caused by the above reasons, using a CRT display with higher brightness than necessary will unnecessarily accelerate the deterioration of the electron gun and phosphor screen of the CRT display, and shorten the life of the CRT display. In addition to reducing the power consumption, it also causes unnecessary power consumption, which is undesirable in terms of effective use of resources and energy conservation. [Object of the Invention] The present invention has been made in order to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks.
An object of the present invention is to provide a brightness adjustment circuit for a CRT for a monitor, which has a function of automatically optimizing brightness according to the brightness of a monitoring environment.

[Embodiment 1] FIG. 1 is a block diagram specifically showing Embodiment 1 of the present invention. The signal indicating the brightness of the environment in which the CRT display (6) is placed, detected by the optical processor fi+ shown in FIG. The signal is transmitted to the control unit (4) through the signal input unit (3). The control unit (4) calculates the optimum brightness of the CRT display (6) from the signal value and transmits the numerical setting value to the brightness changing unit (6). Brightness changing section [5)! /i, has the function of controlling the brightness circuit of the CRT display (6) so that the brightness corresponding to the setting value sent from the control unit (4) is obtained;
6) Optimize the brightness by changing the brightness of the phosphor screen.

Figure 2 shows the brightness changing unit (5) and CRT described in the above embodiment.
2 shows a detailed block diagram of the interface of the display (6); FIG. To explain this block diagram below, the brightness control signal generated in the brightness changing section (5) has its amplitude adjusted by an attenuator (B), and then a DC signal component is removed by a bypass filter (C). This is the output signal of the brightness changing section (5) and is transmitted to the brightness circuit (D) K attached to the CRT display (6).
It changes the brightness.
