Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a filter element enhanced in filtering capacity and enabled in the achievement of miniaturization, by forming a filter body having a large number of pleats and a cylindrically rounded shape while forming turn-in parts having a depth smaller than that of the aforementioned pleats to the outer peripheral side thereof. CONSTITUTION:A filter body 7 is fabricated by folding composite filter paper 8 being long filter paper in a zigzag state to form a large number of pleats 9 and rounding the pleated filter paper into a cylindrical shape. Further, turn-in parts 10 are formed between pleats 9 provided to the outer peripheral side of the filter body 7 with a turn-in depth smaller than that of the pleats 9. As a result, the density of the composite filter paper 8 is enhanced in both of the outer and inner peripheral sides thereof and filtering capacity thereof is enhanced while the replacing cycle of the filter element using said filter body 7 becomes long. By forming the turn-in parts 10, the outer diameter dimension of the filter body 7 is contracted without lowering the filtering capacity thereof and the miniaturization of the filter element can be attained.
