As shown in FIG. 1, a conventional heat exchanger is a cylindrical body in which a finned water pipe 1 is arranged at the upper end opening, and a plurality of main burners 2 are arranged at the lower end opening. Usually, the cross section of the upper end opening is smaller than the cross section of the lower end.

This is done to increase the flow velocity of combustion exhaust gas passing between the fins to improve heat exchange efficiency, and to prevent the connecting portions at both ends of the water pipe 1 passing through these fins from protruding from the body of the heat exchanger. This is to reduce the size of the device.

However, in this type of heat exchanger, the reduced cross-section parts 3, 3 in the upper part of the cylindrical body are more severely deteriorated than other parts, and the durability of the heat exchanger as a whole is low.

According to the above technical means, the combustion exhaust from the main burner collides with the caul plate and does not directly hit the inner surface of the reduced cross-section portion of the cylindrical body, so the reduced cross-section portion is abnormally heated due to the insulation effect of the caul plate. No worries.

本考案は次の特有の効果を有する。The present invention has the following unique effects.

Since the reduced cross-section portion of the cylindrical body does not reach an abnormally high temperature, deterioration of the reduced cross-section portion is suppressed, and the durability of the heat exchanger as a whole is improved.

Furthermore, since a patch plate is attached to the reduced cross-section portion, the mechanical strength of this portion is improved.
