Claims

[Scope of utility model registration request]

an optical system that images image information of a document such as a slip or card on a photoelectric conversion section of a solid-state line image sensor; a timing pulse generator that generates a pulse every time the document moves a predetermined distance; means for starting main scanning in the solid-state line/image sensor by a signal generated based on the output pulse of the timing pieres generator; and reading in the reading function by the optical system and the solid-state line image sensor. A manual reading device comprising means for manually moving a document in a sub-scanning direction with a portion of the document to be read correctly corresponding to the area.
