CONSTITUTION:Soft capsule agents which contain in high concn. carotenoids insolube in water and poorly stable and contain self-emulsifiable and dispersible type carotenoids usable in a highly stable state over a wide range are prepd. Such capsules are prepd. by dissolving or suspending carotenoids such as alpha, beta, gamma-carotenes, xanthophyll, lycopene, canthaxantine, or the like into a system consisting of animal or vegetable fat or oil, surfactant such as hydrophilic glycerol, fatty acid ester or the like of 0.02-1 based on of one fat or oil and >6 HLB, contg. also polyhydric alochols such as glycerol, propylene glycol or the like of likewise 0.02-1 based on one fat or oil, then forming the mixture into soft capsules.
