PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a trouble due to exhaustion of a roll paper, by presetting the residual quantity of the roll paper to a counter and by counting down the counter for every one fed paper and by displaying contents of the counter in the transmission side. CONSTITUTION:When the residual quantity of a roll paper 1 becomes small, a near-end mark 2 is detected by a detecting part 5. When the leading edge of the mark 2 is detected, the residual quantity of the roll paper 1 is calculated in terms of the number of pieces of paper of a prescribed size by an operating part 6, and this number is preset to a down counter 7, and contents of the counter 7 are displayed on a display part 10. When paper feed advances, a down-counting signal is sent from a down-counting signal part 11 for every one piece of paper, and contents of the counter 7 are counted down by 1. Contents of the counter 7 are transmitted to a demodulating part 16 of the transmission side through a counter information coding part 14 and a modulating part 15 and are demodulated and are displayed on a display part 19 through a decoder 17 and a display driving part 18. Thus, the number of receivable pieces of paper is grasped in the transmission side to prevent the trouble.
