PURPOSE:To decrease the number of direct lines by making a link circuit connections only between important main telephone offices via direct lines and among many telephone offices via a general telephone switching network. CONSTITUTION:The telephone circuit of a line test desk LTD-A is set and a link circuit OCE-A is actuated, holding a subscriber's circuit in readiness for origination. A switchboard controller CTL sends a dial tone to the LTD-A to permit the dialing of the telephone number of the link circuit OCE-B of the party telephone office, thereby making an interoffice connection between the LTD-A and LTD-B through a channel network NW-A, an outgoing trunk OGT, a trunk line L, an incoming trunk ICT, a channel network NW-B, and the OCE-B. On receiving a call signal, the OCE-B detects it and displays the incoming on an LTD-B. Answering operation on the LTD-B enables a link call between the LTD-A and LTD-B.
