Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the alkaline electrolyte leakage resistance of a battery by providing a dried coating film formed from the organic solution containing the specified amount of chlorosulphonated polyethylene on the entire surface of an insulating gasket of the button type alkaline battery. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode back mix 6 comprising mainly silver oxide, a separator 5, an electrolyte absorbent material 4, and a negative active material 3 comprising gelled zinc are accommodated into a battery case 2 also acting as a positive terminal, and a sealing cap 1 is placed on this case by sealing it, interposing an insulating gasket 8 having L-cross section, thus a button type alkaline battery is formed. A dried coating film 9 comprising chlorosulphonated polyethylene is provided on the entire surface of the insulating gasket 8 in such a way that the solution containing 5-30wt% chlorosulphonated polyethylene dissolved in the organic solvent such as toluene is applied and dried on the insulating gasket 8.
