Abstract

PURPOSE:To transfer with less deterioration in picture quality by once decoding picture information stored in a memory then transmitting it after data compression in conformity to the objective equipment. CONSTITUTION:A picture information transmitted being compressed is decoded in a facsimile equipment to be recorded, and also stored in a memory 10 temporarily in the form of the compressed picture information. For transfer to another station, the information read out of the memory 10 is decoded and then encoded directly without using the recorded information. The encoding is performed in a method conforming with that of the station to be transferred. The information is not reproduced as a received picture temporarily to be transmitted, but transferred in the form of information after decoding, thus preventing the picture quality from deteriorating.
