CONSTITUTION:The detection signal supplied from a tape mark detector 20 is supplied to a time counting circuit 31, and the circuit 31 measures the time elapsed from the moment when the tape mark is detected. The information of measurement furnished from the circuit 31 is supplied to a comparator 32 to be compared with the set time information of a time setting circuit 33. The time information of Nxtau= T(N: number of tracks on which the unit information is recorded; tau: time required for the shift of a head 21 equivalent to a track pitch) is stored and set at the circuit 33. Then a coincidence signal EQ is produced from the comparator 32 when the time measured by the circuit 31 becomes equal to T. The signal EQ delivered from the circuit 32 is supplied to a control circuit 34 to control a recording/reproducing circuit 35.
