Abstract
PURPOSE:To speedily and accurately count the number of corpuscles, by a method wherein corpuscles are discriminated by comparing the detection voltage signal generated by a picture sensor according to the quantity of light received by each picture element for a magnified picture, corresponding to the transmitted light quantity, with reference voltages, and counted by means of a counter. CONSTITUTION:A diluted specimen 3 including corpuscles such as red corpuscles is irradiated with a beam of light from a light source, and a magnified transmitted-light picture is received by a picture sensor 7 such as a line sensor through lenses 4 and 5, a pinhole 6 and the like. Then, the sensor 7 generates a detection voltage corresponding to the quantity of light received by each picture element. At the same time, said voltage is applied to a decision circuit 10 provided with a calculating circuit through a driving circuit 9 which applies starting signals to a various clock pulse generating circuit. Thereupon, the circuit 10 compares the applied voltage with reference voltages within a given range and outputs a signal 1 only when the applied voltage is within the given range and it is decided that the picture element is one which has received the light having passed through a corpuscle and having a quantity within a given range, so that a counter operated at a necessary timing is advanced. By said constitution, the number of corpuscles can be counted speedily and accurately.
