Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the loss at an auxiliary power source when there is a large change in the AC supply voltage, by employing the voltage obtained by rectifying and smoothing the output pulse of a switching transformer as an auxiliary power source for a switching regulator. CONSTITUTION:When the voltage of an AC supply source 1 is applied, the first regulator 8 is actuated to operate a control circuit 3 through the second regulator 12. According to the operation of the control circuit 3, an output is generated in a rectifying-smoothing circuit 10 for an auxiliary power source. Because said output voltage has been set so as to be larger than that of the first regulator 8, when an output is generated in the rectifying-smoothing circuit 10 for an auxiliary power source, the first regulator 8 is no more operated, so that a constant voltage is applied to the second regulator 12 independently of the change in the AC supply voltage thereafter. Therefore, the loss in the first regulator 8 while the control circuit 3 is operating is extremely small: only the losses at a resistor 82 and a Zener diode 83.
