Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve a highly accurate measurement of the rotational frequency and the angle of rotation along with a broader striped section by converting changes in the quantity of light into an analog signal of sine wave with the diameter of an irradiation light equal to the width of stripes at reflecting and absorbing sections in a reflected light type rotation detector. CONSTITUTION:Reflecting light sensing device 4 with a light emitting element 5 and a photodetecting element 6 is arranged to face a rotor 1 alternately having absorbing sections 2 and reflecting sections 3 both equal in the width. As the width L of stripes at the absorbing sections 2 and reflecting sections 3 is almost equal to the width of light, the output of the photodetecting element 6 varies as a sine wave ?in an analogous manner and cyclically from the maximum to the minimum value. The rotational frequency is measured by counting the maximum and the angle of the rotation of the striped sections is measured based on analog information from the minimum to the maximum value.
