Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it unnecessary to provide an exclusive output terminal for outputting a diagnostic result, by constituting so that a voltage signal indicating a diagnostic result of a fault is outputted from a terminal which outputs an air fuel ratio adjusting signal, in case when a prescribed signal is applied. CONSTITUTION:In case when a switch 16 is not opened, a CPU32 sends an output value corresponding to the extent of correction of an air fuel ratio, to dudy ratio controlling circuit 46. As a result of diagnosis of a fault, in case when there is a fault in one of sensors 12-1-12-n, a result which is stored in an RAM36 is inputted to the circuit 46 by closing the switch 16, and also an ignition time signal to be inputted to a controlling circuit 44 is set to a fixed value which has been decided in advance. As a result of diagnosis, as for a fault item, voltage which is set to be different in said each item is outputted by a prescribed time each from an output terminal 24. In this way, a diagnostic result of each item is known very easily. Furthermore, since it is unnecessary to provide an exclusive output terminal for outputting a diagnostic result, the number of output terminals is greatly decreased.
