Abstract

PURPOSE: To minimize the disturbances in in-furnace laminar structures and perform titled measuring during moving by inserting a lance approximately horizontally through the wall of a blast furnace or the like, and intermittently moving the same for short distances in association to the thickness of an in-furnace charge layer and the descending speeds thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A water-cooled lance is inserted approximately horizontally through the wall of a blast furnace or the like, and this lance is moved in a manner as to satisfy the equation I and equation II [L0; the thickness of the thinner layer of the mineral layer and coke layer aternately formed in the furnace (m), (v); the descending speed of the charge in the furnace m/second, t; the residence time of the lance in the in-furnace charge layer second, (d); the outside diameter of the lance (m)] in association to the thickness of the in-furnace charge layer and the descending speeds and the like thereof.
