Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The acetaminobenzamide derivative of formula (R is H, halogen, 1W2C lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; n is 0 or 1).
EXAMPLE: 3-Acetylamino-N-2-pyridylbenzamide.
USE: Hypoglycemic agent.
PROCESS: The 3-aminobenzamide derivative (e.g. 3-amino-N-pyridylbenzamide) is prepared by reducing the corresponding 3-nitrobenzamide (e.g. 3-nitro-2-pyridylbenzamide obtained by the reaction of 2-aminopyridine with 3-nitrobenzoyl chloride) catalytically with hydrogen in ethanol solvent in the presence of e.g. Pd-C catalyst. Acetylation of the resultant compound gives the compound of formula.
