Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it unnecessary for the operator of an article conveyor to remove articles from a first conveyance passage when the operator resumes the operation of the conveyor, by providing a mechanism which removes the articles from the first conveyance passage when other articles going aead of the former aritlces have jammed due to the wrong action of a reloading transfer means. CONSTITUTION:When a sheaf of sheets conveyed on a passage 2 have jammed thereon due to the wrong action of gates 4, 5 or sheaf push-out means 6, 7, it is found out by a jam detector. At that time, a timing cell finds out that the sheaf of sheets have come to a color detector 3, to operate a solenoid driver to close the conveyance passage 2 by a gate 31. As a result, another sheaf of sheets following the former sheaf of sheets are introduced into a reject conveyance passage 32 by the gate 31 and then piled up in a reject pile-up section 24 through the passage 32. After the jammed sheaf of sheets are removed from the conveyance passage 2, the gate 31 is turned to open the passage.
