Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of noises by holding a stereophonic reception state close to a detuning state by setting the stereophonic reception state on detecting a pilot signal and by switchng it to a monaural reception state on detecting a drop of the output level of an AM stereophonic signal. CONSTITUTION:An AM stereophonic signal is received by a tuner circuit 2, and the sum signal of a left and a right signal is outputted from an AM detecting circuit 3. A PM detecting circuit 5 outputs the difference signal of the left and right signals by the output of a limiter 8. A transistor (TR)8 detects whether the output level of the AM stereophonic signal is greater or less than a preset reference level and when the circuit 5 detects the pilot signal in the process of transition from a detuning state to a tuning state, a receiving circuit is placed in a stereophonic reception state. When the decision that the otput level of the signal is less than the reference level is made in the process of transition from the tuning state to th detuning state, the receiving circuit is switched to the monaural reception state regardless of the existence of the pilot signal.
