PURPOSE:To perform efficient Kanji(Chinese characters)-Kana(Japanese syllabary) conversion, by outputting and displaying a word which can not be identified due to the presence of words of same pronounciation with a different form out of Kanji retrieved at each section in one input unit. CONSTITUTION:In a device retrieving reading and outputting a Kanji word, Kana character trains inputted from a keyboard 1 are decomposed into a plurality of Kana character trains, and each Kana character train is retrieved with a dictionary stored in an RAM15 and obtained Kanji word is written in an output buffer memory 15A and this is displayed on a CRT8.
