Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the burn of a bearing, by providing an oil supply hole and an oil drain hole for each bearing pad to apply cooling oil to the lubricated surface of the pad to reduce the temperature of the bearing. CONSTITUTION:Spacers 23 are secured on an upper and a lower bearing housings 4, 5 so that each spacer is located beween bearing pads 2. An oil supply pocket 24 is provided on the side of the spacer 23, which faces a rotor 1, so that the pocket communicates with an oil supply hole 21 provided in the bearing housing. Oil drain holes 22 are provided through the upper and the lower half bearing housings 4, 5 so that the drain hole is located near the end of the pad 2 as to the direction of the rotation of the rotor 1. Since the oil supply hole 21 and the oil drain hole 22 are provided for each bearing pad 2 to apply cooling oil to the lubricated surface of the pad, the temperature of the bearing surface is lowered to prevent the burn of the bearing.
