Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect a decrease in amplitude by comparing the amplitude of digital data from a discoidal recording medium with a reference voltage having different values in accordance with whether the data track is inside or outside by a reading circuit for the digital data. CONSTITUTION:Read data is amplified by preamplifier and after noises are removed through a low-pass filter 3, the resulting data is applied to the amplitude-voltage converting means 6 consisting of a full-wave rectifying circuit 7 and an integral network 8. Then, its output is compared with the output voltage of a reference voltage generating circuit 9 by a comparator 11. The reference voltage has a level ''H'' for tracks 00-59 (outside) and a level ''L'' for tracks 60-76 (inside). This reference voltage varies the cutoff frequency of the filter 3. The output of the comparator 11 is sent as an WEAK signal to a disk controller. The output of an ANd gate 12 shows a timing error.
