Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure the connection with the mirror finished end face of an optical fiber, by forming a recessed end face having a slight level difference on a ferrule end face and giving a cut to the optical fiber fixed to the ferrule along the recessed end face to cut the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A recessed end face B tapering toward the center part is given by a sharp cutter 33 to an optical fiber element 32 fixed to the ferrule 31 and along a parallel end face B. Thus the optical fiber 32 is cut. The core part is cut with a substantial mirror surface and has a level difference (l) compared with the face A of the ferrule 31. The ferrule 31 is loaded to an adaptor 3 and a coupling nut 4, and the optical fibers are connected together with a slight space.
