Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily color and display a character and a background color by use of a designated color, by dividing a unit area of a color memory, where read-out is executed simultaneously, into 2 parts, and storing the first color data and the second color data in one of them and the other, respectively.

CONSTITUTION: An area of 1 byte corresponding to each address of a color memory 9 is divided into 2 parts, and a character color code FGC and a background color code BGC are stored in its one area and the other area, respectively. An address controlling circuit 5 designates an address of the memory 9 through an address switching circuit 11, reads out the FGC and BGC in a data of said address, and leads them into an inverted latching circuit 15. Each output signal from the circuit 15 is led into a concidence detecting circuit 18, and when coincidence of tri-color codes of the FGC and the BGC is detected, a background color switching circuit 17 substitutes a raster color code for only a bit corresponding to the BGC, and outputs it. When this output signal and a pattern signal from a parallel-series converting circuit 14 are led to a TV video circuit, a character and a background color reflected on a CRT can be colored and displayed by a designated color.
