PURPOSE:To reproduce a magnetic tape of an NTSC system by use of a VTR of a PAL system, by suing a signal of frequency for holding relation of frequency interleave of horizontal scanning frequency and chrominance subcarrier frequency, as a servo-reference signal to a servocircuit for controlling a relative speed of a magnetic tape and a head at the time of reproduction. CONSTITUTION:As for a servo-reference signal in case of recording a color video signal of a PAL system, a vertical synchronizing signal which has been separated from a video signal is used, and when reproducing it, a signal of 50Hz which is obtained by dividing a chrominance subcarrier frequency fsp is used. Also, this device is provided with a quartz oscillator 14 of a chrominance subcarrier fsn of an NTSC system, and a frequency divider 15, and a signal of frequency fvn' which is obtained from the frequency divider 15 is supplied to a 1/2 frequency divider 13 through a terminal 12b of a changeover switch 11. A head drum and rotary phase of a capstan motor are controlled by a servo-reference signal from the 1/2 frequency divider 13.
