Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to divide air flow produced by a cross-flow fan into a downward stream and a horizontal stream at a desired air flow dividing rate, by providing a flow control member for deflecting the air flow produced by vortices toward a downstream side of a rear guide in the manner that air flows along the downstream part of the rear guide. CONSTITUTION:When a cross-flow fan 7 is turned, vortices V are produced and air flow is produced by the vortices V. A rear guide 9 consists of an upstream member 9a and a downstream member 9b that is turned pivotally around a pin 10. By turning the member 9b, the position of the vortices V is shifted around the center of a fan shaft 70. In case that the angle of the rear guide 9b is smaller than about 60 deg., air flow is divided by a control member 11. Here, air flow Fa between the control member 11 and a stabilizer 8 tends to discharge horizontally by the function of the vortices V. However, as the angle theta of the rear guide 9b is increased gradually to 60 deg., the deflection angle alpha is substantially in the horizontal direction. Further, when angle theta is 90 deg., the deflection angle alpha is directed substantially downward, as can be seen from the drawing. That is, the direction of air flow can be changed by the function of shifting of the vortices as well as the tendency of air flow itself to stick to the surface of the rear guide.
