Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in settling characteristic of sludge and the recovery of thermal energy by adding an iron salt having a flocculating effect to waste water, blowing the waste gas of combustion produced after burning of the gas produced in a methane fermentation tank thereto and neutralizing and preheating the waste water.
CONSTITUTION: The strong acidic pectin waste liquids 1, 2 produced from chemical dissolving stages for endocarps in the production of cans for citrus fruits are fed into a pH control tank 3, where they are neutralized with the alkali from an alkali liquid tank 6, thence the liquids are fed into an iron salt injecting tank 4, where ferric chloride from an iron salt tank 7 is injected. Further, the liquids are fed into a waste gas injecting tank 5, where the waste gas of combustion produced by burning the gas produced in a methane fermentation tank 9 in a combustion device 12 is blown through a nozzle 16 into these liquids. After the liquids are neutralized and preheated in this way, they are pumped 8 into the tank 9, where methane fermentation is effected. At this time, the pH of the waste liquids is detected with the sensor pHC provided at the outlet of the tank 5, whereby the alkali quantity to be injected into the tank 5 is controlled.
