PURPOSE:To enable stable feeding of ink by simple operations, by providing a plurality of ink reservoirs and by constituting one of them so that it contains vapor-phase ink and gives pressure thereto in an ink feeding device for multiple- type ink jet. CONSTITUTION:When a reserve tank 113 is connected to an ink chamber 109 so as to conduct initial filling-up of an ink jet head 101 with ink, the ink is filled up until the ink levels in ink chambers 108 and 109 reach the position H1 of a level control valve 112. At this time, valves 106 and 107 are opened and a relief actuator 124 of a pressure unit 111 is pushed. When the valves 106 and 107 are left open at the time of operation of the head 101, ink is supplied to the head 101 through pipes 104 and 105 by a capillary force. The head 101 is set so that it is not so lower in height than the ink leels H1 in the ink chambers 108 and 109. The ink in the reserve tank 113 is supplied to the ink chambers 108 and 109 so as for the ink level H1 to be fixed.
