Abstract

PURPOSE:To expand the range of reflecting density to a large extent, in the ink jet recording device using an electromechanical transducing element, by driving the transducing element by selectively using pulses appropriately from a voltage pulse train. CONSTITUTION:The pulse train DP which drives the transducing element 7 is constituted by pulses DP1...DPn. The time interval between pulses is T. The pulse voltages are formed so that Vd1<Vd2...<Vdn. In recording, the transducing element 7 is driven by DP1 at first. An ink particle 12 whose speed Vd is Vd1 which is the slowest and diameter Dd is Dd1 which is the smallest is jetted at a position X1. Then the particle 12 having the speed Vd2 and the diameter Dd2 is jetted by the next pulse DP2 at X2. Since the moving speed of a nozzle 6 with respect to a recording medium 10 is constant, the fast particle 12 catches up with the preceeding slow particle and is combined with it. The combined particle 12' hits the medium. Therefore, by appropriately and selectively driving the pulses, the range of the reflecting concentration can be expanded, and wide harmony in printing can be expressed.
