Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the toner empty without being affected by sticking of a toner to a detecting part, by connecting a motor to an impeller in a toner container and detecting the rotation of the motor due to the variance of a load accompanied with the variance is the toner level. CONSTITUTION:An impeller 10 is provided in the lower part of a toner hopper 7 and is connected to a motor 11. A code plate 13 is provided on a shaft 12 of the motor 11 coaxially, and information of the code plate 13 is read by a reading head 15, and the motor is driven to detect the rotation of the impeller. When the impeller is buried in a toner, the motor is not rotated by the load of the toner even if a current is flowed to the motor; but the motor is rotated when the toner is reduced and the impeller is not buried in the toner. A weak current is flowed to the motor, and a toner empty signal is issued if the motor is rotated by this current.
