Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a Pt alloy for an accessory with superior mechanical strength and workability by preparing an alloy consisting of specified amounts of Pt and Ga.
CONSTITUTION: The composition of a Pt alloy for an accessory is composed of 92W97.5w/o Pt and 2.5W8w/o Ga. The reason for the addition of Ga is that Ga shows remarkable age hardenability by aging at a suitable temp. after soln. heat treatment by heating to the solid soln. range and quenching, yet <2.5w/o Ga improves hardly the hardness, and >8w/o Ga increases the amount of intermetallic Pt-Ga compound and deteriorates the workability.
