Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide an efficient centrifugal pump which causes no trubulent flow, by defining the fluid passage of the impellr of the pump by a front and a rear surfaces shaped in accordance with two arcs, whose radii of curvature increase toward the outlet part of the passage at the vane of the impeller from its inlet part on the vane. CONSTITUTION:A front surface 55 and a rear surface 56, which define the fluid passage 57 of an impeller 50, are shaped in accordance with arcs, respectively. The arc for the front surface 55 has a small radius r1 of curvature near the inlet part 58 of the passage 57 on the vane of the impeller and a large radius r2 of curvature near the outlet part 59 of the passage on the vane. The arc for the rear surface 56 has a small radius r3 of curvature near the inlet part 58 and a large radius r4 of curvature near the outlet part 59. According to this constitution, the length of the passage 57 can be augmented without increasing the outside diameter of the impeller 50, to prevent the occurrence of turbulent flow.
