Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of optical and electric mutual conversion by inhibiting the repetition of the conversion in the middle of transmission by transmitting information with light by an optical switch element through a time- division optical tramsmission system which uses optical fibers, and by receiving it by branching. CONSTITUTION:An optical switch element consists of an ultrasonicwave deflector AO and rod lenses RL1 and RL2, and light from an optical fiber (a) is normally passed through an optical fiber (b), but passed through an optical fiber (c) when a high-frequency input is applied. Light from a light source 11 is made incident to an optical fiber UF1 and is branched through the half-mirror UM1 of the line adapter TS1 of the 1st terminal equipment to be photodetected by a photodiode UP1, whose output is received by a communication control part UI/F1 through a receiving line UR1X to detect a time slot and a synchronizing signal. When the time slot 1 of the terminal arrives, a modulated signal is applied to an optical switch US1 through a transmitting line UT1X to modulated and transmit the light passed through the half-mirror UM1 to the next terminal, thus repeating reception and transmission one after another until a specified terminal.
