Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the lubricating property of each part of a differential device by a method in which a lubricating oil port is formed in the circumferential wall of a case, and by utilizing the edge of the port, a guide face and a deflector by which libricating oil is positively introduced into the case by the rotation of the case are formed. CONSTITUTION:The circumferential wall 12 of a differential case 1 is provided with plural ports 13 through which lubricating oil in a differential carrier is introduced into the case 1. These ports 13 have guide faces 14 inclined in such a way the outside surface of the case on the forward side of the part 13 is gradually lowered toward the port 13 with respect to the turning direction P of the case 1. The edge of the port 13 on the facing side to the guide face 14 forms a deflector 15 having a slight acute angle to the guide face 14. Furthermore, an oil trap 17 is formed on the inner surface of the case 1 on the side where the port 13 is formed.
