Abstract

PURPOSE:To set a cassette after correcting the sag of a tape, by turning one of two reel hubs of the cassette in a take-up direction at a position right before a magnetic head touches the magnetic tape when the cassette is loaded. CONSTITUTION:When a cassette 1 is pressed into a holder 12, a transportation motor 10 turns to move the cassette 11 as shown in a figure A, and the holder 12 moves toward a base plate 1 to be positioned as shown in a figure B. A switch 14 is turns on and the transportion motor 10 stops to set the cassette 11 on reel hubs 5 and 9. Then, a reel motor 7 turns to turn a reel turntable 4, and a magnetic tape in the cassette 1 is taken up to eliminate the sag of the tape; and the reel hub 9 is turned by being drawn by the magnetic tape to detect the turning of a reel turntable 8 by a detector 15, which stops the reel motor 7, thereby turning the motor 10 again. The holder 12 moves toward the base plate 1 again to insert the magnetic tape in the cassette 11 between a capstan 2 and a pinch roller, thus holding reproduction or recording in readiness.
