PURPOSE:To improve recording and reproducing efficiency by increasing the vertical magnetic-field component of a vertically magnetized film by forming a superconductive material in the gap of a ring head. CONSTITUTION:In the gap of a ring head 6, a superconductive material 9 is formed. Even when the Meissner effect of the superconductive material narrows the ring head gap, magnetic flux is never short-circuited in the gap, and the magnetic flux 7 in the ring head is all converged at the tip part of the gap, improving recording and reproducing efficiency greatly.
