Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a display element which permits uniform large-area displaying by grasping a porous plate which is insulated on at least one surface by means of the electrode surfaces of a pair of electrode plates and sealing an electro-optic display material in the through-holes.
CONSTITUTION: An anodic-oxidation film 1c is formed on at least one surface of a metal plate pierced with multiple spaced through-holes, whereby an electrically insulated porous plate 1 is formed. An electrode plate 3 made by providing an electrode film 3b on one surface of a substrate 3a, at least one of which is transparent, is bonded to one surface of this porous surface 1, after which an electro-optic display material is charged into the through-holes 1a of the porous plate 1 and an electrode plate 4 made by providing an electrode plate 4a on one surface of a substrate 4a is bonded thereto. Thereby, the parts other than the through-holes are fully made to sealing parts, hence there is no problem in sealing as a large-area display element and the entire part may be made flexible, thus the displaying provided with arbitrary curvature is made possible.
