Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain the operation of the whole transmission system by disconnecting a terminal station, where a fault is occurring, from a common transmission line when transmitting information from a terminal station to a center station by utilizing a signal transmitted from the center station. CONSTITUTION:At each terminal station, a digital signal (waveform B) transmitted from a center station via a common two-wire transmission line is received and when a response to it should be made, a signal of ''1'' and ''0'' in waveform C, for example, is supplied to the base of switching transistor T2 to send data back to the center station. Each terminal station is provided with short-circuit detecting circuit DT, which detects the common two-wire transmission line being in a short-circuit state for longer than a prescribed time as a fault (e.g. short-circuit fault of transistor T2) to open relay contact X0.
