Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove the light signal components leaking to core parts from clad parts by providing light shielding films having an opening at least on the core part surface to the end faces of a pair of opposing optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:Light shielding films 13 composed of aluminum are stuck on the end faces of optical fibers 12 consisting of cores 4 and clads 6, and the core 4 part surfaces thereof are selectively removed to form openings 14. The light component 7 going toward the clad part 16 of the receiving side optical fiber 12 out of the light signal emitted from the transmission side optical fiber 11 of the optical fibers formed in this way is shaded by the films 13 and will not therefore enter the clad 6. Hence, the light signal component 5 having entered the core 4 receives no disturbance at all; therefore, the rate of atenuation does not fluctuate and linearly increases with an increase in the distance L between the fibers 11 and 12.
