Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely detect defects by providing a means of heating the joined part of a zirconium alloy material and a dissimilar material and its neighborhood, a temp. measuring means for heating part, and sensors detecting the AE signal from the joined part and its neighborhood.
CONSTITUTION: An AE receiver is composed of a heater 4 which heats a joined part A or a dissimilar diameter part B, 3 or 4 sensors for the purpose of locating the positions of defects and a thermocouple (temp. measuring sensor) for measuring temperature 10. The AE sensor 7 is connected acoustically to a pressure pipe 1 by means of a spring 12 via a strap plate 12. When the joined part A of the pressure pipe 1 and the dissimilar pipe part B, etc. near the same are heated by the heater 4 and are held at 100W250°C, an AE signal is produced according to defects if residual stress exists near the joined part A. Hence, the defects may be detected by measuring the change in the AE count by the sensors 7.
