Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:An isoindoline derivative expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are Hs or halogens; R3 and R4 are lower alkyls, or together with N may form pyrrolidine , piperidine or morpholine; ring A is formula II, III or IV).
EXAMPLE: 2-[ 4-( β-pyrrolidinoethoxy )phenyl ]-4,5,6,7-tetrahydroisoindolin-1-one.
USE: An analgesic agent.
PROCESS: A compound expressed by formula VI or a salt thereof, e.g. sodium salt, is refluxed with a compound expressed by formula VII (X is halogen) in water or an organic solvent, e.g. acetone, preferably in the presence of a base, e.g. NaOH, under heating to give the compound of formula I.
