Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the exhaustion of NOx and save energy in the combustion and heating furnace which uses heatvy oil on the like for combustion by extracting a part of an exhaust gas, adding a reducing agent and a reaction promoter to it and mixing it into the secondary combustion air.
CONSTITUTION: In a glass melting furnace 1 which melts glass 2 by th e combustion and heating by a heatvy oil burner 3, on either side of the furnace 1, there is provided heat accumulating chambers 4A, 4B which are connected to the furance 1 through ports 5A, 5B and house heat accumulating medium 6A, 6B. Each of the chambers 4A and 4B is communicated with flnes 8A, 8B through flnes 7A, 7B. At a joint of the flues 8A and 8B, there is interposed a flow change damper 9, which is operated intermittently to alternately communicate the flunes 8A and 8B with the secondary air inlet 11 and an exhaust gas passage 12. In this construction, the flues 7A and 7B are connected by an exhaust gas bypass passage 15, which comprises branch flow passages intersecting forming substantially a letter X with a wind fan 17 in the center, four dampers 16AW16D and a reducing agent adding means 18.
