Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve good aging effect on a picture tube through quite simple means by mounting a field generating source at the outside near the joint between a funnel and neck thereby overconverging the electron beam and diverging widely toward a fluorescent face. CONSTITUTION:The electron beam 3 discharged from the cathode 11 of a picture tube 1 is converged by an electronic lens 12. By means of a field generating device 2 mounted at the outside near the joint between a funnel and a neck, the electron beam 3 is overconverged and projected toward the fluorescent face while diverging widely as shown by a dushed line. (When there is no field generator 2, the electron beam is collected to one point 13.) The field generator 2 has a combination of a permanent ring magnet 21 and yokes 22, 23 provided with foldings 221, 231 of the shape fitting to the outline of mounting section.
