Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a microcapsule preparation which has both sustained activity and slow-releasability of the drug component and can be guided with magnetic field, by coating a drug component with an organic polymer containing ferromagnetic particles. CONSTITUTION:Particles of drug component coated with an organic polymer and firmly attached with ferromagnetic particles, are obtained by (1) dissolving an organic polymer (e.g. ethylcellulose, gelatin, albumin, etc.) and optionally an adjuvant in an organic solvent, (2) adding the drug component and ferromagnetic powders (e.g. ferrite powder, Pt-Co powder, iron powder, etc.) to the hot solution thus obtained, and (3) stirring and slowly cooling the mixture. The coated particles are washed with a solution of a surface active agent (e.g. HCO-60, Tween 80, etc.) to obtain the objective product. When administered in the body, the particles can be guided directly to the diseased part with the outer magnetic field, thereby exhibiting the maximum remedying effect with little side effects.
