Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need to rebuild the controller, etc., of a main switchboard even when a conference telephone set is added to the switchboard later, by providing the conference telephone set with a busy tone detecting circuit corresponding to terminals. CONSTITUTION:Extension telephone sets 1 are connected to conference telephone set 8 via line circuits 2, channel switch 3, intra-office trunks 4, and conference line circuits 11, and outside line telephone set 9 via intra-office traunk 5, channel switch 3 and conference line circuit 11. After a conference connection, when an on-hook subscriber answers, busy tone generating circuit 10 is connected to channel switch 3 and line circuit 11. Then, busy tone detecting circuit 6 detects a busy tone and sends a line release signal to disconnect the on-hook subscriber from the conference subscriber's terminal. Therefore, even if conference telephone set 8 does not detect a polarity inversion signal due to the on-hook state, the busy tone is sent to neither the conference interface nor mixing circuit 7, so that the conference can be carried on.
