Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform high-precision position detection by a small number of sensors by using a pulse signal of a frequency proportional to a moving speed for control over the operation of a pickup moved by a motor. CONSTITUTION:Arm body 2 rotatably coupled with trestle 4 moves in parallel on rail 5 as feed screw 6 turns. Direct-current motor 9 as the power source of feed screw 6 is so controlled by the offset angle detection servo that arm body 2 will be in parallel to the tangent to the record modulated groove. The pulse generator consisting of pulse disk 10 provided around feed screw 6, light source 11 and photosensor 12 outputs pulses of a frequency in proportion to the feed speed. The pulse signal from the pulse generator is inputted to the up-down counter, whose count value is compared to a preset value to detect the position of the arm.
