Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the durability efficiency of the work by the hardened coating surface and layer by forming the coating hardened layer on the surface of an arbitrary suitable material and electric-discharge-machining the same to the tool shape in the manufacture of the blanking tool.
CONSTITUTION: Metallizing, powder, linear explosion, electric discharge coating, ion plating or other surface treatment is applied on the surface of an arbitrary base material 1 for blanking tool having the specified hardness by using the nitride, oxide, carbide, boride of metals or their mixture. A coating hardened layer 2 is then formed to 1.3 micron or more and 5W10 micron thicknesses. Next, the die 11 and punch 21 of the specified shape and size are cut out and formed by wire cut electric-discharge-machining in such a manner that the hardened layer surface 3 of the base material 1 formed with the coating hardened layer 2 becomes the working surfaces of the die and punch of the blanking tool. Here, at 1.3 micron or less thickness of the coating layer, there is the effect of the portions which are not hardened and even if it is made to 10 micron or more, no considerable effect is observed in durability.
