Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a fall of grinding grains and wear of the grinding surface and to improve an efficiency of grinding operation by a method wherein a carbide or nitride is ion plated on the grinding grain fitted layer on the cutting tool having some grains adhered to a surface of wire etc. to form a film layer thereon.
CONSTITUTION: Grinding grains 2 are adhered to the surface of the wire 1, metalic carbide or nitride is ion plated under its fine form to the surface of the grain fitted layer to form a coated film layer 4. This layer 4 is closely fitted well even in between the grains 2 forming some concave portions to show a heat resistance characteristic so that the grinding grains 2 are reinforced thereby and the lower layer of the combined grinding grains 2 is enclosed thereby. Thus, a characteristic of reinforcement may not be reduced by a grinding heat and a stable fixing support for the grains may be provided. Hard cutting operation may be made with a high workability of the material and a wear-proof characteristic as well as a long life of durability can be assured.
