Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent position determination errors by using amplitude attenuation based on the propagation distance of AE waves to compare the order of AE wave arrival with the order of AE signal amplitude and judging the existence of the mixture of AE waves.
CONSTITUTION: AE signals 11 are inputted to an AE signal amplitude comparing circuit 4 and an AE wave arrival time difference measuring circuit 5. The comparing circuit 4 orders the AE signals in a sensor from the largest amplitude one to the smallest one one after the other. The measuring circuit 5 records the order of AE wave arrival to each sensor. A comparing circuit 6 judges that AE waves have mixed if the orders of information 12 that indicates the order of AE signal amplitude values and information 13 that indicates the order of AE wave arrival do not coincide with each other and judges that the AE waves have not mixed if the orders of the two coincide with each other. Only when the AE waves are judged not to have mixed, a position determination circuit 7 carries out position determination and a recorder 8 records the result.
