Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure color tones accurately by transmitting light through glass fibers, transmitting the reflected light from a sample by means of a pair of glass fibers, passing the same through filters for reference light and measuring light respectively, conducting the same to photodetectors and comparing and displaying both outputs. CONSTITUTION:White light out from a light source 1 enters a glass fiber bundle 3 through a lens system 2. The exit light thereof is reflected by a sample 18, and enters a pair of fiber bundles 4, 5, the exit rays whereof pass through an interference filter 7 for reference light and an interference filter 8 for measuring light, and enter photodetector 9, 10. The transmission bands of the filters 7, 8 are so selected that the difference in the quantity of the light absorbed by the sample 18 is made maximum. The outputs of the photodetectors 9, 10 input via amplifiers 11, 12 to a comparator 13, by which the ratio thereof is taken, and is displayed 14 as a color tone via a color level setter 16.
